Nursing: Advanced Practice

Kramer School of Nursing at Oklahoma City University offers Advanced Practice, BSN-DNP Programs in the following specialties:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner Program (66 credit hours)
  • Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Track (67 credit hours)
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Track (68 credit hours)

All programs are Full Post BSN-DNP programs, with minimal residency requirements. Doctoral students come to the OCU campus for a required three-day intensive prior to beginning each Fall, Spring, and Summer semester. Doctoral coursework thereafter, each semester can be completed in an online format. International students are required to reside in the Oklahoma City area and participate in on-campus learning activities related to coursework and other educational requirements throughout each semester.

The core nurse practitioner courses meet once a week on campus. Advanced Practice students can expect one class day per week, on campus, with most students completing the program in 3-4 years.

Post-Master’s Advanced Practice Certificates

Post-Masters certificates are designed for advanced practice nurses who want to obtain education and certification in another advanced practice role. The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Certificate is 20 credit hours, while the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) is 22 credit hours. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track is 23 credit hours.

There is no application deadline, so please apply at any time. FNP and PMHNP certificate coursework begins in fall. AGACNP certificate coursework begins in spring.
